- Material should be free from deep cracks, laps, pits, rust, excessive scaling, peeling, miss-rolls and bends.

Test for Surface Defects of Raw Material
- Material should be free from harmful defects like cracks and seam.

Internal Soundness
- Internal Finish to have No Pipe, Segregations, Pin Holes, Center Looseness, Flaking, Course Dendrites.

Dimensional Analysis
- Dimensions of the material are checked with Vernier Caliper.

Brinell Hardness Testing or As Rolled Hardness

Chemical Analysis
- To check % Carbon estimation, % Manganese estimation, % Sulphur estimation and like-wise Silicon, Phosphorous, Nickel,
